Log timber truss works.
Post and beam roof systems.
A typical wall section is pictured above.
This truss is favored in heavy timber construction in situations where wide clear spans are required and where a different structural member would obstruct the view of gable end windows.
We supply heavy post and beam for commercial or residential projects.
These timbers are then tied together with collar ties the horizontal members and gusset plates the metal fasteners as you can see in the photo below right.
Of course many projects have unique systems but the basics are typical.
First roof area assembly.
The first roof area is constructed with heavy timbered components that are secured to the ridge beam and second floor beams.
The hammer beam timber truss elegantly distributes the roof load extending weight down through the first floor system by way of heavy posts.
Exposed ridge beam collar ties or purlins for cathedral areas as required and 6x8 douglas fir plate beams.
Basically the post and beam system is a skeletal framework of decking beams and posts supported on a foundation.
