It is an engineered wood from the family of manufactured boards which include medium density fibreboard mdf and particle board chipboard.

It is made from thin sheets of veneer peeled from debarked wood. Manufactured from thin sheets of cross laminated veneer and bonded under heat and pressure with strong adhesives plywood panels have superior dimensional stability and an excellent strength to weight ratio and are highly resistant to impacts chemicals and changes in environmental temperature and humidity. Plywood is a popular choice for residential and light duty construction and is made from thin sheets of veneer that have been peeled from debarked wood. These thin layers also called plies are glued together in alternating perpendicular directions to create a cross graining pattern.
